COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) announced that they have begun taking media accreditation applications for the 2004 Titan Games, Built by Home Depot, June 18-20 in Atlanta, Ga. Accreditation for year two of this multi-sport event will end June 11.
To register for media credentials for the 2004 Titan Games, please go to www.usocpressbox.org. On the left hand side of the page, you'll then see an icon for media registration. Click on media registration and then look for the Titan Games section within that page. Submit your application and look for the approval to come from the USOC.
The Titan Games showcases not all the Olympic sports, just the most painful ones, with America's elite boxers, fencers, shot-putters, wrestlers, weightlifters, judo and taekwondo athletes preparing for this summer's Olympic Games against the world's best in each of these sports.
With U.S. Olympic Team athletes expected to compete in all seven sports, the 2004 Titan Games will be unprecedented in assembling the most U.S. Olympic Team members ever prior to the start of Olympic competition. The event will come less than two months before the start of the Olympic Games in Athens and for many of the athletes, the competition will serve as the final test before touching down in Greece.
More than 185 Titan Games participants will be featured throughout three days of competition at Centennial Olympic Park and within state-of-the art Philips Arena. Though the competition will reach its crescendo on the Sunday evening session with wrestling, boxing, judo, taekwondo and weightlifting all on display, the caliber of athletes and teams competing and the events proximity to the Olympic Games will make for three days intense non-stop action.
The 2004 Titan Games will be Built by Home Depot, as the Atlanta-based home improvement retailer will be the presenting sponsor of the event. Other sponsors supporting the event include Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, United Airlines, adidas, Kodak, Bank of America and McDonalds.
Tickets for the event are now on sale. For individual seats or all-session passes, call TicketMaster at (404) 249-6400. For discounted ticket sales for groups of 10 or more, call LEJ Sports at (770)-641-7575.
